I made my first woodneck filter yesterday, and it was amazing! Really big and juicy and delicious, without getting muddied.
I’ve loved woodnecks for ages, but have never managed to use one (I know they’re cheap, but I’m cheap too). It just surprised me how much more I liked this compared to the same coffee, at the same extraction on a V60. Definitely looking forward to playing more.
Of course, I may have been lucky choosing the coffee I did – a Kenya Ndaroini Peaberry, from Square Mile. It had a beautiful body and sweetness, which just shone. I will play with something very clean and crisp too, but I’m most excited to see how a sweet, syrupy natural will taste.
