The Hario Drip-pot is Lovely

 I made my first woodneck filter yesterday, and it was amazing! Really big and juicy and delicious, without getting muddied.

I’ve loved woodnecks for ages, but have never managed to use one (I know they’re cheap, but I’m cheap too). It just surprised me how much more I liked this compared to the same coffee, at the same extraction on a V60. Definitely looking forward to playing more.

Of course, I may have been lucky choosing the coffee I did – a Kenya Ndaroini Peaberry, from Square Mile. It had a beautiful body and sweetness, which just shone. I will play with something very clean and crisp too, but I’m most excited to see how a sweet, syrupy natural will taste.

Volumetric Espresso

This is my first real post, and it’s a rambler! But I had an idea in my head that I wanted to get down, and I hope it gets some people thinking. Thanks for reading.

The new La Marzocco Linea PB has got me thinking. It has a digital display of the flowmeter’s ‘pulses’, and I’ve found the idea of looking at how we could use volumetric dosing of espresso in a different way really exciting. I don’t think this machine hasn’t quite nailed it, and we can go a lot further, but it’s a really interesting start.
